Chick-fil-A Sourcing Lead, Packaging Protection and Cleaning Chemicals in Atlanta, Georgia
Overview
A Professional with a dedicated responsibility to support a group of Sourcing leads that are responsible for nearly $750MM+ of packaging spend across multiple commodities (paper, plastic, etc.) This individual will be responsible for supporting the strategic relationship owner for a set of supplier partners, learning how to effectively execute on managing pricing and supply continuity for 450+ SKUs (cups, bowls, carry-out bags, boxes, cartons, towels, etc.), and work with key internal stakeholders to build and sustain a packaging pipeline for a $22B+ Restaurant Chain across over 3000 Restaurants. This role will include process and results ownership of managing and expanding the supplier network of partners, build robust capacity and contingency plans providing fuel for growing Restaurant sales and growth, while still delivering market leading cost of goods for Chick-fil-A Operators; Feeding into the more Sr Sourcing Lead’s overall category strategy. Cataloging, optimizing, and owning this work in the form of a ‘Packaging Scorecard’ will be critical. Effective relationship management capabilities for both internal and external stakeholders will be critical to success for this role. Responsibilities
Sourcing & Supply Continuity Partner with Sourcing Lead with the following:
Develop scalable and sustainable category sourcing strategy to ensure continuity of packaging supply for all +3000 Chick-fil-A Restaurants domestically and internationally (as growth requires)
Learn to maintain and report on prioritizations for Capacity and Contingency (CAPCON) work that ensures overall scalability and supply security for key packaging SKUs
Understanding the fundamentals of building and maintain a robust CAPCON strategy to ensure supply availability with Chick-fil-A’s aggressive growth curve year over year
Initiate market assessments to partner in identifying and selection of potential suppliers to increase product availability
Conduct supplier facility visits to monitor and address any capacity or efficiency constraints that could impact product availability and or cost
Work to demonstrate full understanding the manufacturing and converting processes. Build relationships and influence with key internal stakeholders, i.e. Menu Packaging Team, Supply Chain Operations, Supplier Quality & Safety to prioritize work to ensure continuity of supply
Stewardship Partner with Sourcing Lead with the following:
Manage the tools that support spend and savings tracking, supporting the process to roll up, and report to Sourcing leadership
Develop skillsets tied to the sourcing event process
Utilize tools within a ‘Sourcing Playbook’ to conduct formal sourcing events to conduct formal pricing discussions with suppliers on a consistent cadence and perform RFPs where applicable
Negotiate competitive market pricing with suppliers to secure favorable cost of goods for Chick-fil-A Operators
Maintain industry leading Cost-of-Goods-Sold (COGS) as well as maintain neutrality against PPI (Producer-Price-Index)
Participate in conduct formal pricing discussions with suppliers on a consistent cadence and perform RFPs where applicable
Own, Lead, and Maintain Supplier Relationships Partner with Sourcing Lead with the following:
Understand how to serve as the supplier relationship manager for the Chick-fil-A organization. Lead and finalize Master Vendor Agreement negotiations on behalf of Chick-fil-A that ensure a fair operating business framework for the partnership
Establish productive and effective partnerships with suppliers to ensure customer prioritization of supply availability
Set clear partnership expectations including cost, customer service, prioritizations, etc. and hold suppliers accountable to above expectations. This includes familiarity with escalation points
Develop key performance indicators to ensure partnership alignment on supplier performance
Engage (and eventually lead) annual supplier business reviews and track corrective actions
Enabling Restaurant Communication Partner with Key Stakeholders with the following:
Conduct effective and efficient proactive communication of packaging issues with Restaurants via Supply Chain Consultants, Communications teams, and occasionally directly with Operators or Team Members
Address all supply disruptions due to supplier and/or distributor constraints, acts of God, etc. directly with Restaurants
Serve as the liaison between Restaurants and Suppliers and advocate for the Operators best interest
Serve as the subject matter expert for your categories
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or other related fields
2 years of professional Supply Chain or analyst experience
Demonstrates strong ethical, moral, and professional standards that align with Chick-fil-A values
Strong business acumen
Clearly demonstrated project management experience
Team player with a high sense of responsibility
Takes direction well and has strong organization skills
Builds strong relationships internally and externally

20% travel required: Chick-fil-A Supplier Network, Operators, Industry Conferences, etc
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant field
Sourcing, Procurement, or Sourcing Analyst experience
Packaging experience
Previous experience within the restaurant or food and beverage industry
Strong data and analytic ability
Self-motivated for continuous improvement of personal and professional skills
Think strategically about the business (long term results over short term gains)
