Summary of Responsibilities

Independently perform and lead analysis and design activities ensuring plant designs and as-built facilities meet site requirements and Urenco's design and engineering standards throughout the entire life cycle of design assets. Standards consist of (nuclear) safety requirements, site license requirements, regulatory compliance requirements and Urenco state-of-the-art, qualified systems and best practices.

The ideal candidate will be a recognized specialist in their area of expertise with a high, in-depth level of knowledge and problem solving skills. The ideal candidate will have hands on experience producing front end engineering design. This ideal candidate will also have experience or professional exposure Integrated Safety Analysis (ISA) and advanced motor drive systems.

Education and Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or a master's degree in Engineering or other science or technical field
  • 5 Years of practical application experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in a regulated or highly procedural environment

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or a Master's degree in Electrical and an ability (or already have) to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) license (by accredited examination)
  • 8 Years or more experience in electrical design engineering in a nuclear, industrial chemical, refinery environment
  • 2-3 Years of experience at a Part 70 licensee
  • Change authority experience (70.72 50.59, 95.19, USQE)
  • Design Safety Basis Development, HAZOP, Documented Safety Analysis experience
  • IEEE, ASME NQA-1, phase balancing for optimal harmonics, power distribution up to 13.8kV

  • The work location for this position is Urenco USA, Eunice, NM
  • Work Schedule: Professional work schedule/ with minimal night/ weekend support. Some nights and weekend work may be required. Employees are also subject to call-outs as needed.
  • Travel Required: 15% of the time or less as required.

Primary Functions

  • Delivery of Front End Engineer Design of future plant expansions and new construction. Creation of initial one-line diagrams, panel schedules, system descriptions, and owner specifications.
  • Key adviser and decision maker with electrical distribution challenges (20megawatt switchyard feeds, 13.8kV switchgear, robust power redundancy, diesel back up power, transformers, MFDs)
  • Guide/Mentor/Train lesser experienced Electrical Engineers
  • Actively promote a pro-active safety culture and perform analysis to create and promote continual safety process improvement behaviors.
  • Ensure advanced plant designs contain safety features based on best industrial practice and lessons learned from an industrial nuclear environment (including nuclear safety related fail-safe wiring systems).
  • Perform design reviews and approve, as delegated design authority the designs concerning the expertise area of process technology.
  • Provide issue resolution to vendor designs and components (notably MCCs, VFDs, SWGR, SWYDs, XFMRs, and PLCs)
  • Provide governance and oversight concerning detailed design and supplier manufacturing quality processes on request of site or group project managers.
  • Lead Post Implementation Reviews to establish the feedback loop to Design Authority from a safety /license compliance, operational and asset management perspective.
  • Manage troubleshooting and debottlenecking investigations on the request of the operational sites.

Compensation starting at: $130383 - 162979 / year and up dependent on candidate.
