We are seeking a(an) Labor and Delivery Certified Surgical Technician for our team to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. Job Summary and Qualifications

As an OB OR Certified Surgical Technician, you will ensure the efficient operation of the OR in the Labor and Delivery area. You will scrub as a member of the surgical team under the direction of a registered nurse by assisting for scheduled as well as emergent cases.

Job Responsibilities:

· You will prepare delivery tables using sterile technique as required.

· You will maintain competency in scrub technique by scrubbing in for cesarean sections.

· You will assist with specimen collection as delegated by RN and ensure timely transport of specimens to the lab.

· You will work with other team members to inventory and order supplies.

· You will prepare and open supplies according to physician preference while maintaining sterile technique.

· You will assist staff with patient care, i.e. answering call lights, assist MD with procedures, assist with labor patients and deliveries, assist with transferring patients, restocking of delivery carts and infant warmers with supplies and non-narcotic medications, witnessing wastes and returns of narcotic medications.

What qualifications you will need:

Experience

· 6 years of experience in an acute Women’s Services area - preferred

Education

· Graduate from an accredited education program - required

· High school diploma or GED equivalent - required

Licenses and Certifications

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy

· If employee graduates after September 1, 2009, must hold and maintain a current certification as a Surgical Technologist within 180 days from the date of graduation

o The certification must be from: 1) The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor; 2) The National Center for Competency Testing or its successor; 3) Another surgical technology certification program approved by the department OR 1) Current LVN License or Compact 2) LVN license from a NCLA Compact State

· Current certification (as stated above) as a Surgical Technologist if experience is less than 6 years - require
