REQUIREMENTS:Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, frequent stooping or bending over,repetitive movements. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Requires 3 months farm experience

WAGE: $16.63 per hour

DAYS AND HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, start date:04/01/24 - end date: 12/01/24

JOB DUTIES: We need seasonal employees to assist with our crop production season for corn and rye. We also have a farming operation with cow/calf herd. We need help operating equipment to plant, irrigate, and harvest crops March-December 1st. Need assistance for caring and feeding livestock during calving season March-June. Harsh weather during calving season requires more assistance for animal care. During summer, when not busy farming, employees must be physically fit enough to maintain fences and cattle working facilities. Employees will also need to move cattle between pastures with all-terrain vehicles or on foot. During harvest time we require employees to unload corn trucks and operate equipment to harvest crops. Employees must be able to maintain equipment and operate it in a safe manner. In November cows and calves are sorted and transplanted to cornstalk pasture. After that we do not need help during non-H2A months because no growing crops and cows are on cornstalk pasture which requires minimal care. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, seed drills, manure spreaders, irrigation equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, irrigate soil, using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps, install, maintain and repair pivot irrigation systems, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, complete maintenance and repairs on irrigation equipment, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps, drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals, examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain, feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies, herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures, inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences, mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos, milk animals such as cows and goats, by hand or using milking machines, mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions, move equipment, poultry, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts, patrol grazing lands on horseback or using all-terrain vehicles, perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations, and helping with animal births, provide medical treatme t, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment, segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition, shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food, care for animals, clean equipment or facilities, examine animals to detect illness, injury or other problems, operate farming equipment, transport animals, crops, or equipment, treat animal injuries or illnesses.
