MKS Instruments Inc Senior Manager Electronic Engineering in Irvine, California

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Electronics Engineering Manager to join our innovative product development engineering team at the Integrated Solutions Business (ISB) unit of MKS Instruments. We push the boundaries of technology to develop a wide range of opto-mechanical and opto-electronic subsystems and modules that address the needs of Industrial, Scientific, and Life and Health Sciences markets. In this position, you will contribute to the design and development of new and existing systems, providing electronics hardware, firmware, and software to enable new technologies. You will work collaboratively within a project team and use your communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional team members.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Manage the electronics hardware and firmware development team

  • Develop and support innovative products that solve our customers’ most pressing challenges

  • Act as a key engineering resource, collaborating with project management, operations, quality/test, and product management as products move from development into production

  • Develop specifications and product interface requirements for customers, engineers, and technicians

  • Travel Requirements: up to 30% of travel is required

    Skills You Bring:

  • Strong understanding of electronics hardware and embedded firmware design and development

  • Proficiency with PCB design software packages; Altium preferred

  • Demonstrated expertise working in a product development and transfer-to-manufacturing environment

  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics or related discipline and 15+ years industry experience with five plus years of experience managing a team; an MS or PhD is preferred

  • The ability to effectively interact with executive management (both internal & external) and negotiate critical matters

  • Experience and success in hiring and mentoring engineers and a positive attitude for working with a diverse, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary team

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with distributed teams

  • UNIX based FPGA design development environment

  • C/C++ development for embedded processors

  • Transitioning a team to new procedures

    We are interested in a qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we will not be sponsoring work visas for this position, at this time.

    Compensation and Benefits: Salary Pay Range: $ 121,100 - $224,900 per year. This range is a good faith esti mate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.  At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

    Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
