Senior Design Engineer - Battery Electric Vehicle Power Electronics PACCAR's Zero Emissions department is focused on new technologies such as battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell electric, and advanced vehicle concepts that eliminate harmful emissions in the heavy and medium-duty transportation industries. This posting is for high-voltage power electronics development, which includes the development of an AC Inverter, and sustained development for a power distribution box. These components enable key vehicle functions of safety, charging, and power transmission to all vehicle electronics. The ideal goal of this development effort is to provide an AC Inverter for customer onboard applications and to carry over existing power distribution box technology to new PACCAR platforms. Job Functions / Responsibilities Deliver the ideation, design, and implementation of a new high-voltage power electronics system. Develop component specifications based on system performance targets. Coordinate development activities with prototype suppliers to deliver functional hardware for on-road testing. Provide written and verbal updates to communicate status, changes, risks/gaps to vehicle program timelines and identify opportunities for improvement. Create and release drawings and applicable documents for parts. Less than 25% travel is expected. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is required. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Business is preferred. 5-7 years experience in aviation and or automotive engineering translating new ideas and concepts into prototypes through detailed design processes is required. Experience with power electronic device development is preferred. Experience with electric vehicles or high voltage electronics components is preferred. Knowledge of control systems, diagnostics, and cyber security requirements is preferred. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse teams to meet objectives and timelines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to deliver technical presentations and written reports to diverse audiences. Willingness to grow personally and professionally, ready to learn and make use of new processes and techniques. Be resourceful with problem problem-solving approach. Willingness to be outgoing, and engaging, with a demonstrated passion to deliver top-quality results.
