Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer I works under immediate supervision and uses established procedures to support the Crane Supplier Quality Management Strategy. The Supplier Quality

Engineer I also implements a supplier quality improvement and monitoring process that optimizes the supplier performance, product quality, and business qualification with Crane

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain a Supplier Scorecard that monitors supplier quality, delivery and other metrics that track the general performance of the supplier

  • Support supplier Quarterly Business Reviews, assess supplier performance, monitor corrective action status, and drive supplier to continuous improvement

  • Liaise with site Quality teams and suppliers to assure that quality issues are addressed and corrective actions are in place and being properly managed to assure root cause analysis and corrective action reporting

  • Conduct assessments of suppliers’ quality system and process control capability, and drive implementation of improvement plans

  • Assist the Supply Chain organization to investigate and find new sources of supply as required

  • Regularly review open CAR database and follow-up with supplier on closure, track status to ensure timely status approval on all status changes to SCAR'S and generate Monthly Status Report to Management.

  • Implement quality control plans for assigned commodities and conduct first article and first batch audit inspections

  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Prepare management reports and presentations regarding quality status and supplier performance

  • Support Material Review Board (MRB)

  • Actively engage and understand trends in the industry’s approach to quality and new approaches that may provide benefit to BU

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: 0-2 years of related experience

  • Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of the marketplace and manufacturing technologies

  • Familiarity with supplier qualification processes and supplier performance metrics

  • Knowledge of the latest quality science tools including, FMEA, GR&R, Control plans, Capability study and reduction of variations

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

  • Exposure to lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc.)

  • Understands fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of assigned product or program

  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

  • Skills/Abilities:

  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

  • Effective and consistent decision-making skills

  • Ability to work multiple problems/issues simultaneously

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment

  • Education/Certification: BA or BS degree in technical discipline

  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQC certifications and knowledge of SPC

  • Previous experience working in regulated environment with a preference of FAA CFR 14 part 21 and part 145

  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt)

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

  • Some test witnessing is required and therefore the use of safety equipment may be necessary including but not limited to eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE.

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes for small periods of time.

  • Must be flexible to work overtime and weekends on occasion if needed.

  • Requires lifting 25 lbs.

  • Requires approximately 40% travel to support customers, with potential for international travel

Top Benefits:

Salary range: $75,906 to $94.985. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
