SALT LAKE COMMUNITY COLLEGE Aviation Maintenance, Adjunct Faculty in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Instructor will teach college level students all subjects in the Airframe and Powerplant courses including electronics, avionics, mathematics and physics. The teaching will include the FAA approved curriculum which will provide students the information necessary to pass the written, oral and practical exams for Airframe and Powerplant certificates. The instructor will use the classroom and laboratory to instruct college students in the technical information and skills required to maintain and repair all types of aircraft relative to engines and airframes.

  1. Prepare and teach various classes in the Aviation Department using proper written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Follow industry, government, and manufacturers maintenance practices in the lab areas.
  3. Assess and maintain student performance records.
  4. Follows the course curriculum outline, prepares and delivers lectures and other classroom activities.
  5. Support department assessment initiatives.
  6. Coordinate student ADA accommodation requests following college policy and procedures.
  7. Answer student questions and provide necessary feedback on student progress.
  8. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to division, school, and college mission and values.
  9. Complete all required training.
  10. Meet College and department deadlines and evaluate student work in a timely manner including submitting final grades on time.
  11. Follows SLCC policies and procedures.
  12. Accept other duties as assigned.

  13. Become familiar with, and abide by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization.

  14. Maintain professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  15. Provide appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
  16. Return graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards.
  17. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades.
  18. Conduct a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance.
  19. Inform students of progress to date periodically and assign and submit grades by published deadlines.
  20. Assist in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment.
  21. Follow and abide by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy.
  22. Handle/respond to student concerns/complaints and respond to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 12 days).
  23. Maintain professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure.
  24. Complete all required employee trainings.
  25. Know and enforce FERPA guidelines.
  26. Administer ADA accommodations as needed.
