What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be…

Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and supplies.

Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor vendor performance to ensure quality, cost, and delivery objectives are met.

Continuously evaluate market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry innovations to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Oversee direct negotiations with suppliers related to pricing and terms and conditions.

Oversee projects to ensure all schedules and deadlines are met.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop production plans that meet customer demand while optimizing inventory levels and minimizing lead times.

Utilize demand forecasting tools and data analysis to anticipate market fluctuations and adjust production schedules accordingly.

Monitor production progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to ensure on-time delivery of products.

Manage inbound and outbound logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to ensure efficient movement of materials and finished goods.

Optimize freight routes, carrier selection, and transportation modes to minimize costs and maximize delivery performance.

Implement inventory management systems and processes to track inventory levels, reduce stockouts, and improve inventory turnover ratios.

Define and establish departmental and individual staff goals in support of management objectives.

Develop, implement and maintain standardized processes, procedures, policies, work instructions and safety guidelines.

Monitor and provide clear communications to suppliers to meet expectations for delivery, quality, customer support, and continuous improvement.

Develop and implement strategies including supplier assessments and rationalization, negotiation for best total cost of ownership, inventory reduction programs, cycle time improvements, security of supply, supplier diversity and continuous improvement.

Optimize the use of information systems and technology for tracking, analysis, reporting, administration and communication.

Implement a rigorous and disciplined process for managing the supply base including leading periodic business reviews, monitoring and managing supplier performance (quality, cost, delivery, & customer support), managing supplier relationships, performing root cause analysis and resolution, developing and monitoring supplier improvement plans.

Assist and/or resolves problems with invoices, receipt reconciliation, contract awards and/or contract performance, as the need arises.

Ensure compliance with all laws and regulations regarding procurement and the shipment of goods.

Your Education Should Be…

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the following fields: Engineering, Sciences, Business Management, Supply Chain Management; or equivalent to 5+ years of progressive experience within engineering and manufacturing business environments

This position is subject to both office and uncontrolled manufacturing shop environmental conditions, noise and oils as well as subjected to hazards such as, but not limited to, moving parts and vehicles, heat and chemicals.

Your Professional Experience Should Be…

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in planning, procurement or logistics in an MRP environment

  • Excellent communicator with interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to negotiate and influence.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and sustain day to day procurement activities.

  • Excellent problem-solving capability along with computer proficiency.

  • Knowledge of materials management procedures

  • Detail-oriented, excellent time management skills in order to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Background in dealing with engineering, document control, and product management functions.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge and theoretical understanding of purchasing concepts and practices (i.e. pricing parameter, delivery requirements, quality issues, supplier relationships, changing master schedules, etc.)

  • Competent with MS Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel

  • Strong leadership skills, strategic thinking abilities, and ability to manage complex supply chain functions within a manufacturing environment.

  • Advanced knowledge of procurement principles, theories and process.

  • Strong understanding of ERP systems

  • Must have a good understanding of what is required to support operations in an Engineered to Order environment.

  • Must be well organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks.

  • Must be a team player and a team leader.
